Setting up call forwarding from Grasshopper to Distance

Introduction

Forwarding calls from Grasshopper routes incoming calls to your Distance number, allowing AI Voice to handle calls consistently. The system captures transcripts, caller information, and optionally generates tickets, ensuring calls are never missed and records are accurate.

This setup supports uninterrupted service and reduces manual tracking, keeping your team responsive and efficient.


How to set up call forwarding in Grasshopper

  1. Sign in to the Grasshopper Admin Portal.

  2. Go to Call Management Extensions.

  1. Choose the extension to configure and click the pencil icon to edit.

  1. Under Call forwarding numbers, keep forwarding option as Ring in specific order.

  2. Click Add call forwarding.

  1. Enter your Distance phone number and set Status to Active.

  1. Select the working hours schedule. You may choose from 24/7, Mon - Fri: 9AM - 5PM, Sat - Sun: 9AM - 5PM, or Custom schedule.

  1. Selecting Custom schedule will show up the option below. Click Add hours to enter your custom time.

  1. Under Call handling, select Calls will connect as soon as you pick up.

  1. Click Save.


Testing your setup

  • Place a test call to the Grasshopper extension.

  • Allow it to forward to Distance.

  • Confirm the AI Voice agent answers and transcripts/tickets appear.

Calls routed from Grasshopper to Distance are captured and logged automatically, ensuring consistent handling and complete visibility of customer interactions.
